El Paso: A City United

Chucho Strong Art Auction

After last Saturday’s tragic mass shooting, dozens of El Paso artists have joined forces to express their collective strength through art. On Sunday, “Chuco Strong Art Fundraiser” showcased the powerful works and donated all proceeds to the El Paso Community Foundation’s Victims’ Relief Fund. The powerful pieces were auctioned off in-person and online via text message and participants remarked that this was a way to help the community heal and show support during this difficult period. Artist Patrick Gabaldon spoke with KTSM and said: “Our hope is that we can write a nice big check so the victims of this tragedy can use it to help them get through this.” Artists from cities such as Miami, Los Angeles, and Arizona also contributed pieces for auction, which raised over $40,000 for the victims’ families. Led by Patrick Gabaldon and Kathleen Decker, the small yet mighty team of local artists worked together to bring an act of support and love in times of need.
