The Border AIDS Partnership works hard to ensure that quality education, testing, and social services are available to those with HIV/AIDS or at high risk of infection. In addition, they focus on providing these same services to underserved communities, including marginalized youth and adults of all ages, races and sexes. This has made Border AIDS Partnership a great ally and role-model in the fight against HIV/AIDS within the region. The Border AIDS Partnership is devoted to secure sustainable resources and mobilize resources in order to provide greater access and availability of these services. They have already created a lasting impact on countless lives throughout their region and continually strive for progress for those fighting against or living with HIV/AIDS every day.
In 1994, the El Paso Community Foundation and US/Mexico Border Health Association joined forces to form a local HIV/AIDS partnership that would provide financial aid to nonprofits in nearby regions that were addressing this critical health crisis. Supported by AIDS United (formerly the National AIDS Fund), Border AIDS Partnership (BAP) was established as a bi-national and tri-state funding collaborative that has been working to fund HIV/AIDS education and prevention activities in El Paso, Texas, Southern New Mexico, and Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. Border AIDS Partnership earned its 501c3 letter of determination in January 2007, allowing it to continue providing much needed aid to community based organizations in the area. To date, Border AIDS Partnership has distributed more than $1.8 million in grants for innovative HIV prevention programs since 1996.
